Washington must decide if they will get rid of the four power dams in The Klamath River that are killing migrating fish by tainting the water with toxic algae.  The one billion dollar removal could boost the economy for one of the poorest parts of the state.   California and Oregon who share the Klamath are behind the demolition.  Many companies that help support the dams are in favor of the demolition because they believe the cost of removing them on their initial removal date in 2022 would be too expensive.
I really do think they need to remove  the dams in the Klamath River soon.  The fishing business is something Southern Oregon and Northern California really rely on.  It’s a cultural thing.  It’s something a father and son bond over.  It doesn’t make sense to risk taking that away.  I don’t see why Washington is hesitant with removing the dams.  Since money is always the factor for everything and it would be more expensive to remove the dams later on; I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to remove them as soon as possible.  It also seems as though it wouldn’t be a hard thing to raise taxes in order to pay off some of the expenses.  If they wait too long to remove the dams more toxic algae will go into the river, but of course that doesn’t seem to be a big issue in this world.  It’s not a surprise the fish in The Klamath River might die off because the people with trillions of dollars are too selfish.  The best way to save money in situations like this is to not originally make dams that have toxic algae.  We should focus our money on advancing our technology so their more beneficial to the earth and so they are selfsustaing.  This is what engineers need to focus on these next decades.  A lot of people only think the poor economy affects how much money someone has in their bank account, but with everybody so tight with their money they neglect to protect the fish in the Klamath and they neglect to help out the things that actually matter.  Everything is related in someway.

  1. Not sure how a son and father bond over this issue, but like your other thoughtful comments.
