For some reason It randomly put the questions in this format when I logged in and it won't let me fix the format for the questions and I'm not sure why some words are links.
1)
The attitude the motivates the adults to lie to Ender are that lies are
sometimes more dependable then the truth. It's possible that if they didn't lie to Ender he might not have joined the International Fleet.
2)
Ender is always being called a third because he was the third
child his mom had birth too. Having more than two children in China
was forbidden because it was population control technique. Ender being a
third is defiantly a negative thing for Ender's parents. It's
just not socially accepted. Like being gay in a super religious community.
It's a negative for Peter. Peter is probably mean to
Ender because he doesn't want to be bullied for being related to a
"third." I think it's a negative for Valentine too, but she
doesn't care. Valentine knows Peter is a bully so Valentine can
relate to Ender so having someone you can relate too will distract the fact
that he/she is different. To classmates Ender being a third might be
positive actually. The classmates can all agree that Ender is
weirdest and worst in the class. So other misfits in the class aren't
going to be bullied because all the bullies would focus all their attention
on Ender.
1)
I don't think Peter was joking when he was saying all those things to
Valentine and Ender. I think Peter is just trying to make him seem
like he's the strongest and the best by making Ender and Valentine feel bad
about themselves. Peter is just trying to scare them because it makes
him feel good. It convinces himself that he is better than everybody
else.
2)
Peter acted differently at the end of the chapter because he didn't
want to get in trouble. He might have thought that there was a chance
that valentine and Ender would tell their parents about what Peter said.
It is also possible that Peter actually felt bad about what he said,
but I kind of doubt that.
3)
I really like these characters. They remind me of the
characters in SpongeBob. Patrick is Valentine, Squidward is Peter, and SpongeBob is
Ender. Peter and Squidward are both mean and negative and
jealous because they are out shined by another. Patrick,
Valentine, SpongeBob, Ender are innocent and nice. The author
represented Peter as a mean boy by making him the oldest of the three and
that symbolizes more power. If he were young then it wouldn't really
make sense. Valentine is sweet and nice
and the author showed that by making her be a girl; because all girls are innocent and sweet right? Ender is
the youngest and that symbolizes the weakest emotionally. He is
quite and scared on the outside, but on the inside he hides all of his
angry emotions and explodes occasionally. For example when he beat
up Stilson and broke Bernard’s arm.
1)
What I think Graff meant when he said evolution is working against girls is that they are becoming
weaker. Not at intelligent or independent. There becoming more dependent
on other people and not being as courageous as the boys.
2)
Ender takes Graff's hand because
1)
"Individual humans beings that others use
to help us survive” To me this means that there are certain people in this
world that are popular because of the common people. Music
artist aren’t anything without he/she's fans.
The only reason your car runs is because of all the nuts and bolts
within it. We common people are the nuts and bolts for commanders and
presidents.
2)
This quote means that they were to put Ender with everybody else he might have the chance of becoming like everybody else. This means adopt
the way they think and do things. When you isolate yourself you have
time and the peace to think about anything you want in detail. You
can go over your thoughts. He can thoroughly think through things
without being rushed by the business around him. Your thoughts will
become more creative by yourself and when he is with all the laughter he
will lose the time he can use to think and observe.
3)
Ender didn't mean to break the other kids arm. He thought he would just
hurt his chest a little, but forgot about the zero gravity. He didn't
want to fight anybody, but if he hadn't he would have kept on getting
punched in the head. He did the right thing even though he might not
think so. I don't think what Ender did was to survive. Is doing
something despicable okay when you’re trying to survive? I think in
the form of self-defense it is, but once you start hurting other people and become selfish then
it is not okay. Once you feel guilt you know you did something wrong.
1)
Ender not showing his feeling of homesickness is definitely healthy for him. He would just
get teased from other people if he let people know he missed his mom and
dad. The negative part of not showing your homesick is that he can't
let out his emotions. His sadness has to stay inside him and he can't
let it out.
2)
Ender was able to beat Bernard because he strategized in his head how he was going to
do it. He thought about different variables instead of going up there
right away and just winging it. It definitely is an unusual solution because
the game had nothing to do with their problem.
3)
Fighting physically: I
think it will make people not want to mess with Ender, but at the same time
it will probably keep others from talking to him
to Ender will lose friends. Harmful.
Talking
about how he feels: I don't think the other kids will care at all.
Parents say that if you have a problem with another kid then just
talk to them, but that doesn't work. Harmful.
Tell
a teacher: Sometimes this works and sometimes is makes the situation worse.
For Ender this is probably his only option because if he
gets in a fight again he is in big trouble. This is his only option.
